Orchard Cottage was an extensive renovation and restoration project, carefully balancing modern living with the preservation of the property's traditional character. Every aspect of the home was thoughtfully redesigned to enhance its functionality while respecting its historic charm.

The project began with the demolition of an existing entrance extension, restoring the property's original cottage appearance and creating a more sympathetic frontage. Window openings were reconfigured, and the entire property was fitted with bespoke handmade timber windows, complemented by large aluminium doors opening from the newly renovated kitchen onto the garden. The existing extension was re-roofed, a bespoke oak entrance porch was handcrafted and installed, and the front door was relocated to create a more practical and welcoming entrance. The exterior was finished with new render and paintwork, while the original chimney was carefully restored to preserve the building's heritage.

Internally, the property underwent a complete transformation. The layout was reconfigured to create a brighter, more practical living space while remaining true to the character of a traditional cottage. Original oak beams were meticulously restored, a new staircase was installed in a more suitable location, and all external walls were internally insulated to significantly improve the home's thermal performance without compromising its appearance.

The renovation also included entirely new plumbing and electrical installations throughout, the careful restoration of the original fireplace, and the creation of larger, contemporary bathrooms. Every room was replastered and professionally decorated, with high-quality herringbone flooring and engineered timber flooring selected to complement the property's period features. To make the most of the surrounding countryside views, a Juliet balcony was also installed within the master bedroom.

The result is a beautifully restored cottage that seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern comfort, creating a home that is both sympathetic to its heritage and designed for contemporary living.
